BlazeBlock is preparing to establish a presence in British Columbia in 2027: A new step towards protecting homes from Wildfires

BlazeBlock is working on the development of solutions designed to limit the spread of forest and vegetation fires towards exposed homes and infrastructure.

Our project is now preparing to take a new step forward with a planned establishment in British Columbia.

Systems designed to protect homes from the roof

The first solutions developed by BlazeBlock are based on the use of high-pressure water-spraying ramps installed at roof level.

The Hydrodôme system is designed to create peripheral protection around the home by spraying water from the roof ridge. It helps reduce thermal radiation, the risk of ignition caused by flying embers and delays the risk of self-ignition as flames pass nearby.

The Hydrojet system complements this protection by focusing more specifically on the sides of the building, nearby vegetation or certain areas that may not be sufficiently covered by the main system.

Our approach is not to claim that we can stop everything, especially when dealing with a major fire. It is intended to add an additional level of protection alongside land maintenance, the choice of building materials and the instructions issued by emergency services.

Why are we ending our operations in France?

The end of our French operations is not the result of abandoning the project or of any lack of conviction regarding the usefulness of our systems, particularly as they are patented in several countries and comply with European standards.

It is mainly the consequence of a lack of support, attention, and assistance in becoming known to the public.

During our operations we made numerous approaches to local authorities, town councils, prevention services, departmental fire and rescue services, insurers, media organisations, and organisations responsible for supporting innovation.

Despite hundreds of contacts, few if any of them led to the implementation of practical trials, pilot projects, or genuine long-term support to help us gain visibility among the public.

This now leads us to look for an environment in which experimentation, prevention, and cooperation with local stakeholders can play a greater role in addressing such major issues.

Our establishment project in Canada

We are preparing a gradual establishment in British Columbia with the aim of having a local presence during the course of 2027.

For us, British Columbia represents a gateway to a Canadian market where wildfire prevention has become a major issue.

Our intention is not simply to export a product designed in France. We want to establish ourselves locally, understand the specific needs of residents, adapt our solutions to Canadian construction methods, and work with local professionals.

During this first phase our objective will also be to develop a local presence that would reduce lead times, improve cost control, and allow the products to evolve according to the needs identified in the field.

Developing a new form of protection

Until now, a large part of our work has focused on protecting homes from the roof.

We are now working on a new solution designed to also operate from ground level.

The principle will be to create complementary protection positioned around the home or in the most exposed areas of the property.

This solution could help wet vegetation over a wider area, limit the heating of façades up to the point of ignition, and create an additional defensive zone between the fire and the building.

A new step for BlazeBlock

The end of our French operations marks the end of an initial phase, but it does not mean the disappearance of the project.

On the contrary, it is pushing us to rethink our organisation, strengthen our solutions, and look for a territory where they can be tested under better conditions.
