Hydrodôme – Hydrojet
1. Proper Use
Blazeblock ramps, including the BZB-360, Hydrodôme, and Hydrojet models, are designed for preventive use against the spread of forest and vegetation fires towards homes and buildings.
They operate by spraying pressurised water around a property, with the Hydrodôme system providing coverage over a 360-degree radius. A Class A additive that is safe for garden wildlife and roofing materials may also be used.
In addition to this peripheral protection, the systems provide roof protection to help reduce the impact of heat on roof structures.
The ramps are designed to be installed on a roof using a sliding hook mounting system and are intended strictly for outdoor use.
They are not personal protective devices.
Our ramps are designed to prevent or slow the spread of fire towards structures.
2. Installation Conditions
The Hydrodôme or Hydrojet ramp must be installed carefully and in accordance with the supplied manual.
It may be installed:

On the roof ridge using the hooks, for 360-degree protection
The system is installed without drilling by using sliding hooks designed to fit underneath the ridge tiles.
Other mounting models intended for flat roofs may be developed at a later stage.
The user must ensure that the installation surface is stable, solid, and safely accessible.
Installation is only permitted on compatible structures, including suitable roofs or solid, level ground.
The ramp may be installed without drilling by using the supplied installation kit.
It must be connected to a water source providing sufficient pressure and flow.
The operating environment must be outdoors and free from obstacles that could interfere with the water spray.
Roof installation is not recommended for people who suffer from vertigo or who have not received appropriate training.
In such cases, the assistance of a qualified professional is strongly recommended.
3. Pressure, Flow Rate, and Water Supply
The ramp must be connected to a water source capable of providing a pressure of between 5 and 10 bar, depending on:

The number of nozzles installed

The diameter of the nozzle openings
-
The required spraying distance
Insufficient pressure will reduce the spraying range and may compromise the effectiveness of the perimeter coverage.
The water supply may come from:

A source with stabilised pressure, such as a swimming pool connected to a suitable pump
-
A tank, reservoir, cistern, well, or any other source containing clean water
-
A domestic water network, which is often limited to approximately 2 to 3 bar, or 29 to 43 PSI
For optimal performance, we recommend using:

A multistage electric pump, petrol-powered pump, or booster pump capable of delivering between 6 and 10 bar at a constant flow rate of at least 4,000 litres per hour

A reinforced distribution hose with an internal diameter of 16 mm to reduce pressure loss

A hose length of less than 50 metres between the water source and the ramp, or a more powerful pump where necessary

Our BIO EX wetting and foaming additive, supplied in 20-litre containers
The use of a wetting and foaming agent significantly improves water coverage and adhesion to surfaces.
It helps ensure even distribution and increases the effectiveness of the fire-protection system while remaining non-aggressive towards microbial wildlife, roofing materials, and surrounding elements.
BZB accepts no responsibility for poor performance resulting from an unsuitable hydraulic configuration.
It is advisable to test the system during periods of increased fire risk.

4. Use in the Event of a Fire
The ramp must be activated before the fire reaches the property, as part of a preventive protection strategy.
It is not designed to be handled or adjusted during an active fire.
In the event of a fire alert or active fire spread, evacuation is strongly recommended, even when the system is operating.

5. Maintenance and Inspections
Regular maintenance of the Hydrodôme or Hydrojet ramp is essential to ensure proper operation and extend the service life of the product.
Routine Maintenance
After every prolonged period of use, including nearby fire exposure or testing:

Rinse the nozzles with clean water to remove limescale, sand, or other residue

Visually inspect the condition of the nozzles, seals, connectors, and ramp structure

Where necessary, remove the nozzles and clean them manually using a needle or a soft brush
Never drill into or enlarge the nozzle openings.
Recommended Frequency
Maintenance should preferably be carried out:

Once a year

Before each reinstallation following winter storage

Special Precautions

Protect the ramp during periods of severe frost in winter

Never use corrosive or abrasive products that are not suitable for aluminium or copper
-
Ensure that all fasteners remain securely in place, particularly after severe weather such as strong winds or heavy rain

Technical Checks

Test the system under pressure when it is commissioned

Check that all nozzles provide a constant and even flow
-
Ensure that the spraying direction and coverage of the protected area are correct

Failure to maintain the system may reduce its effectiveness and may invalidate certain warranties provided under the applicable terms and conditions.
6. Restrictions on Use
Do not use the product for any purpose other than its intended purpose.
Hydrodôme and Hydrojet ramps are preventive systems designed exclusively for outdoor use.
They must never be used:

Indoors or in enclosed spaces

As cleaning systems, agricultural irrigation systems, or for any other unauthorised purpose

In the presence of unsupervised children or animals while the equipment is operating
It is also prohibited to:

Modify the nozzles or use nozzles that have not been approved by the manufacturer

Connect the Hydrodôme ramp to a pressure exceeding 16 bar
-
Connect the Hydrojet ramp to a pressure exceeding 5 bar
-
Use water containing residue, oil, solvents, or chemical products
Any use that does not comply with the manufacturer’s recommendations may invalidate the warranty and create risks to property and individuals.
7. Safety and Compliance
The product is designed in accordance with:

Directive 2001/95/EC on general product safety

Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery
All components are tested to withstand the stated operating pressures.
The user remains solely responsible for complying with the conditions of use described in this manual.
